Oldham RUFC Require Forwards Player Coach

Oldham RUFC is looking to recruit a forwards player coach - ideally a front row specialist but other positions considered - who is looking to move into coaching to further their career in the game.

Alongside our current coaching team the post will include responsibility for first team affairs but with a view to strengthening the overall forward skill levels throughout the Club. We currently have a very young set of forwards having come through our Colts in the last two years.
This will be a sponsored post with the successful applicant working in schools within the Oldham area in a coaching capacity.
This post is open to applicants both in the UK/Ireland and overseas.

2009/10 Annual Club Meal and Awards Round Up

Oldham RUFC were able to reflect on a satisfactory season during their annual awards night at Manor Park.

The first team, despite fielding 49 different players, managed to hold on to their North Lancs/Cumbria division status.

There might be a change for them in 2010/11, however, as they have applied to join South Lancs/Cheshire division to cut down on travelling as there are so many Cumbrian-based teams in their league.

The third team picked up the Steve Ransom Trophy for being the Miller Homes League team of the year, a competition in which there were 200 participating clubs.

And the under-14s were crowned county champions after beating Ashton-under-Lyne in the final of the Blacksticks Blue Lancashire Bowl.

First-team player Alan Pierre was rewarded for an excellent season in the pack as he landed two honours - The Kershaw Trophy and William Fox Trophy for being player of the year and players' player of the year.

Mark Goodman collected the Terry Hurst Trophy for being young player of the year while Steve Fox won the worker-of-the-year award for a third time and Geoff Heptonstall was give the President's Choice for his outstanding service to the club.

The captains' awards for player of the year went to: first team, Chris McKenzie; second team, Matty Collins, third team, Gary Phelan and fourth/vets, Dominic Hall.
